Jesus was not caught off guard, it was not a surprise. Jesus allowed himself to be taken. Jesus' was our perfect sacrifice satisfying the wrath of God so that we could experience the love and grace of God. In his death he brought Glory to God and peace between God and us. Jesus died so that we might know him. Jesus died for us.
